Winter 2015/16 Fleet Update

Motors:

Pioneer 1893-built Car No.1 was placed on the body lift to allow repair work to the suspension on the Ramsey end bogie in late December, returning onto its trucks by mid January. The windows were also removed and the frames are being regrained in addition to a partial repaint. Work was completed by early February. A gallery of the works undertaken is available HERE.

Tunnel Car No.7 was stripped in early February for a full reapplication of the Blue and White ‘Douglas and Laxey Coast Electric Tramway’ scheme presently carried, commencing shortly after. A gallery of the works undertaken is available HERE.

Winter Saloon Car No.20 was placed on trestles over the Winter Period, with both trucks removed for overhaul and attention, the work being completed by early March. A gallery of the works undertaken is available HERE.

Winter Saloon Car No.22 has received a new top plate fitted to the bolster on the Ramsey end truck. This necessitated the cars placing on jacks during early December. A gallery of the works undertaken is available HERE.

Other Car Repairs/Repaints: Car No.19 has received repairs to its Ramsey-end headlamp, and Car No.21 has received a partial repaint.

Trailers

Trailers No.41 and No.43 both received partial repaints, commencing in late November/early December. Work on Trailer No.43 has seen the Douglas-end panelling stripped for repair.

Trailer No.48 was also selected for a full repaint in early February (alongside Car No.7). Work has also been undertaken on the Ramsey-end panelling.

Trailer No.58 has a received a full condition assessment following derailment damage sustained in July 2015, with favourable results. The trailer is to be fully repaired, with work commencing during late November in the former Paint Shop Road at Derby Castle.
