Car 14 – back on the full line

August 19, 2018

As part of its commissioning tests, Car No.14 ran to Ramsey on the 20th August for the first time under its own power since the early 1980s, and the first Ratchet Car to operate north of Laxey since 2002.

Royal Trailer on the comeback trail

Following three years out of service, Trailer No.59, famous for carrying the King and Queen of England on the M.E.R. in 1902, is undergoing works attention to return to service.

The Royal Trailer will be restored to its original livery for the first time for over 100 years, being completed in Isle of Man Tramways and Electric Power Company Ltd Prussian Blue and Ivory.

Car No.14 – First Test Runs

July 12, 2018

An historic day today. After three and half years of hard work by volunteers and MER engineers, Car 14 was taken out on its first proper test run, to Onchan Head and return. Once a few minor issues have been attended to, commissioning into service will commence.

Summer Timetable In Use

July 11, 2018

From now until the 31st of August the M.E.R. will now be operating its busiest timetable, with frequent services running between Derby Castle, Laxey and Ramsey between 08:40 and 18:55.

Evening Services operate on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday Evenings.
