The Manx Electric Railway’s 2016 season started today with Car No.19 having the honour of operating the first service from Derby Castle at 9.40am. Second car out was Car No.21 operating the 10.40am from Derby Castle but the surprise of the day was Car No.2 operating the Laxey based service.

No.2 had been stored at Laxey Car Shed throughout the winter and had been “dried out” from Laxey. It was therefore the chosen car to start from there at 09:55! Due to the track renewals that have carried over from the Winter period at Onchan Harbour and Lambs Crossing, single line working has been in place between Derby Castle to Groudle, and Garwick to Laxey Car Shed.
