History: Wickham Railcar No.7442 arrived on the island in May 1978 after purchase secondhand from the Lochaber Narrow Gauge Railway in Scotland. (after storage in Possil Park, Glasgow since 1973 since closure of the system)

It was on the M.E.R during the early 1980s, making a running appearance during the 1979 ‘Centenary of Electric Traction’ Laxey Cavalcade, moving to the IoMR by 1983. Until Summer 2012, No.7442 was stored in Castletown Goods Shed, usually being pulled out for special events. It moved to the Derby Castle Bottom Sheds during August/September 2012, for full overhaul and reinstatement for use on the Manx Electric, however it moved off-island shortly afterwards for overhaul. It returned to the Manx Electric post-overhaul on the 28th of July 2014, and remains in operational use, based at Derby Castle.
