We’re pleased to announce an additional event as part of the Manx Heritage Transport Festival on Thursday 28th July.
Using 1893-built Car No.2 and recently reinstated Tower Wagon No.1, a special journey will depart Derby Castle at 12:00 for Dhoon Quarry, allowing photograph opportunities in scenic and unusual locations, returning by 15:00.
The use of these two vehicles is historically accurate with No.2 performing the role of Works Car from the 1920s until the late 1970s, and was regularly paired with Tower Wagons while in charge of overhead line maintenance duties. ManxElectricRailway.co.uk volunteers and M.E.R. historian Andrew Scarffe will be on hand to give a further history of this little-known side of Manx Electric history.
Booking: To book your place please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with details of your attendance. Bookings will be acknowledged. Payment will be taken on the day, cash only (please have exact money ready, as this helps us with change!). Places are limited to 30 bookings – A limited amount of ‘pay on the day’ seats may be available, but this will only occur if we have sufficient space left. All proceeds will be going towards the restoration of Ratchet Car No.14.
