June 2012 sees a new Manx Electric Railway DVD release from Great Railway Videos featuring the full journey from Derby Castle to Ramsey.
Promised as ‘A cab ride with a difference’, the 78-minute long production was filmed in April 2012, with Car No.22 fitted with five cameras to capture various views along the line, and also comes with an informative commentary on the line and it’s surrounding history. The DVD provides a nice complement to the Videoscene ‘Ramsey to Douglas’ drivers eye view, filmed the other way and in much different weather! Single-line working is also in effect between Lewaigue and Ramsey during landslip repairs around Ballure, so the Journey involves an interesting shunt manoeuvre across Lewaigue Crossover!
Also featured is a 20-minute program showcasing the Island’s three major railways, and a four minute ‘high speed’ trip from Derby Castle to Ramsey from the front of Car No.22.
The DVD, the second of three Manx Railway DVDs to be released so far, is available from Great Railway Videos.
