In late 1993, it appeared that Car No.3 had been returned to traffic on the M.E.R! Using a set of vinyls applied to Car No.2, the class member lost in April 1930 appeared once more. The renumbered car was used for a Opening Day re-inactment in September 1993, returning to it’s normal identity shortly afterwards.
After the success of the 1993 events programme, Cars 1 and 2 settled down into special traffic use once again. In 1994, the initiative was again taken to revive the lost Car No.3, using vinyls applied again to Car No.2. It operated in this condition throughout the Summer of 1994, this time alongside Car No.6, which had also been vinyled to represent another Laxey Car Shed fire victim, Car No.8. In the event, the change was very popular, allowing the first photographs of a M.E.R No.3 since the 1930s.
