The 1893 Originals – 14 – Trucks and Touchups

While Car No.1 received a full repaint, Car No.2 received a touch-up, with the red and white parts of the livery repainted (the teak from the original 1922 repaint remaining), and the headlight rims picked out in white. As part of the board’s programme to improve the riding quality on the M.E.R stock, No.2’s Brush D trucks were modified in 1962 with larger coil springs. In the event, the modification type became unique: Tunnel Car No.5, No.6 and No.7 received shock absorbers in addition to the larger coil springs, and No.9 received the shock absorbers without the coil springs.
