Structures – Minorca Viaduct (1898)

Built in 1898, most likely by the contractor Mark Carine, the Minorca Viaduct is a 50ft single-span example, crossing over Minorca Hill. In Winter 1903/04, a handrailed flight of stone steps was installed on the north east of the viaduct to allow better access to the adjoining stop, replacing a access path described by contemporary news reports as ‘dangerous and difficult’.
