Isle of Man Railways will be going green for the Heritage Transport Festival in 2017!
The five day event which takes place between Wednesday 26th July and Sunday 30th July will take a ‘Go Green’ theme. The event will focus on the 60th anniversary of the nationalisation of the Manx Electric Railway and to mark the occasion cars No. 21, No. 32 and trailer No. 62 will all be repainted into ‘Nationalisation Green’ livery. In addition to this No.16 will be presented in full Manx Electric Railway Company Ltd livery. Watch out for other rolling stock newly repainted into historic liveries! The event will also celebrate the return to service after a nine year absence of open trailers No. 61 and No.62, built in 1906 by UEC. There will be photographic opportunities with an Edwardian evening at Groudle, a guided tour of Bulgham fifty years after the “Bulgham Gap” and an all day tour on newly repainted Car No.32. Motorman taster lessons, evening lectures, workshop tours and much more.
